Pakistan's First Online Singing School!
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the school named "Sa"?
Sa is the foundational Sur (note) in Eastern classical music — the note where every melody begins and every vocal journey takes its first step. It sets the tone, anchors the music and brings a sense of stability and focus. Just like Sa, our school is designed to be your foundation — a place to begin, grow and connect deeply with your voice.
What is Sa – School of Singing?
Sa – School of Singing is officially registered as Sa - School of Singing SMC Private Limited under SECP. It is Pakistan’s first online singing school offering professional vocal training to learners of all levels — from beginners to aspiring professionals — all from the comfort of their homes.
Who can join Sa – School of Singing?
Anyone with a passion for singing! We welcome students of all ages and backgrounds — whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to improve your skills.
What styles of singing do you teach?
Our personalized teaching approach helps unlock your vocal potential while building a strong foundation in Eastern classical music. We guide students in applying these timeless techniques to a variety of contemporary styles including semi-classical, fusion, pop, rock and beyond.
Is prior musical knowledge required to join?
Not at all! Our courses are designed to guide you from the basics and gradually build your vocal foundation, no matter your current level.
How are the classes conducted?
All classes are conducted online via Zoom or Google Meet. Students receive live, interactive sessions with personalized feedback.
What is the expected timeframe for course completion?
Our Foundation Course is thoughtfully designed to be completed in approximately 6 months with consistent practice, passion and dedication. However, we understand that everyone learns at their own pace. That’s why we allow up to 12 months of access to complete the course, giving you the flexibility to grow your voice without pressure. Your progress is closely tied to how consistently you practice and stay focused. Without regular effort, it may take longer to complete the course or delay the results you’re aiming for.
We’re here to support your journey, but your growth is in your hands!
Who are the instructors?
Our lead instructor is Faizan Khan — a trained vocalist, composer and NCA graduate with extensive experience in both performance and vocal training. In addition, our team includes advanced students who have completed master-level training and now work alongside us, sharing their expertise and insights with new learners.
What language are the lessons in?
Lessons are primarily delivered in Urdu and English, depending on the student’s comfort and the lesson’s content.
What do I need for online classes?
A good internet connection, a quiet space and a device with a mic/camera (laptop or mobile).
Do I need any musical instrument to start learning?
Not at all! At Sa – School of Singing, we teach using the Tanpura, the foundational instrument for vocal practice in Eastern classical music. You don’t need to own one — high-quality Tanpura recordings in all scales are freely available on YouTube, making it easy to practice from anywhere.
Do I need any equipment for online classes?
Yes — a Bluetooth speaker is essential. During class, we use a harmonium app (free on the Play Store) for pitch and scale training. Mobile phone speakers don’t provide enough clarity to recognize frequencies accurately, which is crucial for developing precise pitch. A Bluetooth speaker ensures clear sound and better learning. Plus, since it’s wireless, you can easily carry it and practice wherever you go.
Do you offer assessment sessions?
Yes! Before enrollment, we offer a one-time vocal assessment session. This helps us understand your current skill level and suggest the most suitable learning path for you.
How can I enroll?
